Wayans Brothers Say White Chicks 2 Depends on Scary Movie 6 Box Office
Marlon Wayans and Shawn Wayans are eyeing a return to one of their most recognizable comedies. They’re saying a sequel to White Chicks could move forward depending on the performance of Scary Movie 6.
The brothers made the announcement during a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight at CinemaCon, and fans are already paying attention.
“I’ll put it this way: we’re game,” Marlon told ET. “We want to know if people want to come out and laugh, and if they come see Scary Movie, then I definitely…” Shawn picked up where he left off: “If this movie does well, a White Chicks 2 can happen.”
It’s a straightforward deal. The sequel is directly tied to how audiences respond on June 5.
White Chicks 2 Has Been Talked About Since Early This Year
The momentum started building back in February. On the Rap Attack Official podcast, Marlon said, “If Scary Movie does well, like we hope it does, then we’ll be back real hard next with White Chicks 2 and Don’t Be a Menace 2. We’re going to dig in the crates and bring back some hits.”

The original White Chicks, released in 2004, followed two FBI agents who went undercover as wealthy blonde socialites. According to Complex, the film grossed more than $113 million at the box office and built a cult following that has never stopped asking for more. Marlon has said fans approach him about it constantly, claiming — with some amusement — that white women are among the most vocal supporters. “These people don’t play about White Chicks,” he told ET.
A sequel was actually announced by Sony back in 2009, before quietly disappearing. This time, the brothers are making no promises without proof of concept at the box office first.
Anna Faris Has Already Pitched Herself
The conversation didn’t stop at the two brothers. Anna Faris, who stars in Scary Movie 6 as Cindy Campbell, told ET she has already “pitched myself” for a role in the potential sequel. Marlon responded with a deadpan: “I don’t know, she’s a little too expensive for us.” Shawn added, “Well, we’ll pay her less.”
As for Scary Movie 6, it marks the first time Marlon, Shawn, and director Keenen Ivory Wayans have collaborated on the franchise since the early 2000s. The three co-wrote the script alongside Rick Alvarez, with the cast also including Regina Hall, Damon Wayans Jr., Cheri Oteri, Anthony Anderson, and Heidi Gardner, according to Deadline. The film was originally slated for June 12 before being moved up to June 5 following strong early reaction to the teaser trailer.
Scary Movie 6 opens in theaters June 5.
