“Elden Ring” Movie Locks Full Cast as Filming Begins in the UK

A24 Drops Full Elden Ring Cast as Cameras Roll in London

A24 and Bandai Namco Entertainment’s live-action adaptation of Elden Ring has rounded out its cast and is officially in production. Now, according to The Hollywood Reporter, cameras are rolling in the UK — and the call sheet is stacked.

Tom Burke (Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga), Havana Rose Liu (Bottoms), Sonoya Mizuno (Ex Machina), Jonathan Pryce, Ruby Cruz, John Hodgkinson, Jefferson Hall, Emma Laird (28 Years Later), and Peter Serafinowicz have all joined the previously confirmed Kit Connor (Heartstopper), Ben Whishaw (Black Doves), Cailee Spaeny (Civil War), and Nick Offerman (The Last of Us).

Alex Garland wrote the script and is directing. The budget is reported to be well over $100 million, with around 100 days of principal photography — making it A24’s most expensive and ambitious feature to date. It will be shot in IMAX format.

Elden Ring

Principal photography kicked off in April 2026 on location in the United Kingdom, including Scotland, with Iceland shoots planned for later in the production. Filming has already taken over the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich, South London, with the historic site dressed as a foggy medieval thoroughfare, complete with dry ice, smoke, and green screens to accommodate the game’s iconic giant-scale scenery.

The story follows an exile from the Lands Between who is tasked with traversing the realm to repair the shattered Elden Ring and become the Elden Lord. George R. R. Martin and Vince Gerardis are producing alongside Peter Rice, Andrew Macdonald, and Allon Reich from DNA Films. Character details remain under wraps for now.

Elden Ring the game debuted in 2022, sold in excess of 30 million copies worldwide, and collected over 400 Game of the Year awards. Garland, a self-described longtime fan, personally pitched the adaptation to Bandai Namco and FromSoftware. He reportedly arrived with a 160-page script supplemented by visual aids before traveling to Japan to close the deal. That’s the kind of homework that tends to show on screen.

For UK audiences, Elden Ring is scheduled for a theatrical release on 3 March 2028. No BBFC rating has been issued yet — though given the source material, “15” feels like the floor.

We’ll keep you posted on updates about Elden Ring as the project develops.
