It’s a good time to be a Stranger Things fan with 10th anniversary merch
Netflix marked ten years of Stranger Things this month with a wave of anniversary merchandise, a VHS reissue and new collectibles, as Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer reflected on the sci-fi series that first aired on July 15, 2016.
TL;DR
- Stranger Things turned 10 on July 15, 2026, prompting a wave of official merchandise and events.
- Netflix reissued Season 1 as a limited VHS-style edition for current subscribers.
- Mattel, Funko and Universal Orlando are among the brands releasing anniversary collectibles.
- In the UK, the stage prequel Stranger Things: The First Shadow has confirmed its final West End performance.
A decade in Hawkins, marked with a VHS throwback
To mark the anniversary, Netflix released a special VHS-style edition of Season 1, complete with “Pan and Scan” presentation and period-accurate visual cues designed to recreate an authentic 1980s viewing experience for subscribers. According to Netflix Tudum, the release sits alongside a vinyl box set and cast retrospective content.
Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer, the show’s co-creators, said the milestone brought up a mix of emotions. “We’re feeling so many emotions today,” they told Tudum, reflecting on the series a year after it wrapped.
Collectibles roll in from Mattel to Universal Orlando
Merchandise partners have been staggering anniversary drops across the summer. Mattel Creations released a premium Hot Wheels edition of the Hawkins Power and Light van from the show’s first season, featuring three miniature bicycle figures beneath the vehicle, according to the toymaker’s product listing.

Theme parks are joining in too. Universal Orlando has previewed a new lagoon show, “Stranger Things: Return to Hawkins,” alongside merchandise expected at Halloween Horror Nights events on both coasts, according to UOFan. Nerdbot also reports that new Funko Pop figures, immersive event experiences and a deluxe guidebook are due in the coming months.
UK stage prequel takes its final bow
For UK fans, the anniversary coincides with the end of an era on the West End. Stranger Things: The First Shadow will take its final bow at London’s Phoenix Theatre on December 27, 2026, after three years in the West End and more than 1,000 performances, according to WestEndTheatre.com. The production won an Olivier Award for Best Entertainment or Comedy Play and Best Set Design during its run.
Reacting to the closure, Ross Duffer and Matt Duffer said the West End team had pulled off “cinematic theater unlike anything else out there.”

The series has also given rise to Stranger Things Day, observed annually by fans on November 6, and Seasons 4 and 5 remain among Netflix’s most-watched seasons of all time. Executive producer Shawn Levy said it was hard to believe a decade had passed since the show first premiered.
More releases are expected before the anniversary celebrations wind down, including a complete series Blu-ray and 4K set. Reportedly, additional UK-specific merchandise tie-ins are still to be confirmed.
