Prime Video reveals first Blade Runner 2099 trailer starring Michelle Yeoh and Hunter Schafer
Prime Video unveiled the first trailer for its long-awaited limited series Blade Runner 2099 at San Diego Comic-Con on Friday, confirming a November 25 premiere with Michelle Yeoh and Hunter Schafer leading the cast.
TL;DR
- Prime Video debuted the first teaser for Blade Runner 2099 during its Hall H panel on July 24.
- All eight episodes drop at once on November 25, 2026, in more than 240 countries.
- Yeoh plays Olwen, a dying replicant Blade Runner; Schafer plays Cora, a fugitive who partners with her.
- Series is executive produced by Ridley Scott and showrun by Silka Luisa.
What the teaser reveals
The panel, held in front of more than six thousand fans, brought Yeoh and Schafer onstage alongside showrunner Silka Luisa and executive producers Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson, according to Gold Derby.
The series is set fifty years after the events of Blade Runner 2049, in a Los Angeles reshaped by the replicant uprising. Cora (Schafer) takes on a final identity as a Blade Runner and is forced to team up with Olwen (Yeoh), a replicant nearing the end of her engineered lifespan, to track down a fugitive hiding a secret that could collapse the city, according to the official synopsis reported by Deadline.
Cast and creative team
Dimitri Abold and Lewis Gribben join as series regulars, with Katelyn Rose Downey, Daniel Rigby, Johnny Harris, Amy Lennox, Sheila Atim, Matthew Needham, Tom Burke, and Maurizio Lombardi recurring. Scott, who directed the original 1982 film, executive produces alongside Alcon Entertainment’s Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson.

Schafer told press that the first two Blade Runner films “broke her brain” as a fan, but she initially hesitated to return to television before an in-depth plot conversation with Luisa changed her mind, according to Gold Derby.

Background
This marks the franchise’s first live-action television instalment, following the 1982 original, Denis Villeneuve’s 2017 sequel Blade Runner 2049, and the 2021 animated series Blade Runner: Black Lotus. The concept is drawn from Philip K. Dick’s 1968 novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, which has since spawned multiple films, comics, and games.
Fans of Prime Video’s growing sci-fi slate may also want to catch up on the Robocop reboot series recently ordered by Amazon and the new cast additions to Life Is Strange’s TV adaptation, both also bound for the platform. Not every Prime Video sci-fi swing has landed, however — Aubrey Plaza’s animated series Kevin was cancelled after one season.
