Wordle Answer for 11 May 2026

Today’s Wordle #1787 answer is: NEWLY

NEWLY is an adverb derived from the Old English nīwe (new) combined with the adverbial suffix -ly, making it one of those quietly ancient words still doing daily work in modern English. It means “recently” or “in a new manner” — as in “newly appointed”, “newly built”, or “newly in love.” Its somewhat unusual letter combination (N-E-W-L-Y), with the W and Y both capable of acting as vowels in certain contexts, makes it a genuinely tricky Wordle target. If you cracked it in three or fewer goes, take a bow.

How Did We Do Today?

Today’s puzzle earns a Medium difficulty rating. The word itself is common enough that most players will recognise it instantly — but landing on it within six guesses is another matter. That W-L-Y ending doesn’t suggest itself easily from standard opening words, and the single “proper” vowel (E) means vowel-heavy openers won’t help much.
