David Harbour and Gaby Hoffmann Cast in Dark Comedy Little One
Zach Cregger and Roy Lee recently wrapped Weapons. Now, the producing duo has a new project and it already has two very good names attached to it.
David Harbour (DTF St. Louis) and Gaby Hoffmann (Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere) have signed on to star in Little One, a dark comedy marking the feature directorial debut of Alex Kavutskiy, who also wrote the screenplay.
The story centers on a seemingly perfect family whose life begins to unravel after a sudden and troubling change in a child’s behavior. Plot specifics and character details remain under wraps. So, killer-kid energy. Absolutely.
Little One
Production is scheduled to begin in Los Angeles this month, with support from a California tax credit program. Financing comes from Alex Lebovici‘s Hammerstone Studios, which is reuniting with Cregger and Lee following their earlier success on Barbarian.
Kavutskiy writes on comedic series Jury Duty Presents: Company Retreat and previously directed Sundance short Squirrel and the Adult Swim special Cool Dad. Not exactly a filmography built on jump scares, which makes this pairing all the more interesting.
Harbour recently earned a Gotham TV Award for his supporting performance in HBO’s DTF St. Louis. He is still best known worldwide for playing Jim Hopper in Stranger Things across five seasons, with fans set to see him return as Red Guardian in Avengers: Doomsday. Hoffmann, meanwhile, is coming off turns in Netflix’s thriller series Eric, opposite Benedict Cumberbatch, and is next set to appear in A24’s Deep Cuts from Sean Durkin and Scott Cooper‘s Netflix thriller Time Out starring Adam Sandler.
Cregger’s involvement is already doing a lot of heavy lifting here. His Resident Evil reboot lands in UK cinemas on 18 September — so British audiences are about to get very familiar with what he and Lee cook up together. And if you want more from the A Head Full of Ghosts corner of the horror world, that one has Harbour too, for the record.
No UK release date or streaming home has been confirmed for Little One yet. Cameras roll in Los Angeles this month. We’ll keep you posted on updates about Little One as the project develops.
