Runner Final Trailer Teams Alan Ritchson and Owen Wilson

New Trailer for Action Thriller ‘Runner’ Starring Alan Ritchson and Owen Wilson

Angel Studios has dropped a new trailer for Runner, an adrenaline-fueled action thriller pairing Alan Ritchson with Owen Wilson. The story follows a high-end courier racing against time to deliver a life-saving organ to a critically ill seven-year-old girl, only for his mission to take a perilous turn when a ruthless crime syndicate targets the organ for their own purposes.

Plot and Premise

Ritchson plays Hank Malone, a former soldier who becomes the primary target of a ruthless cartel after taking on what should have been a straightforward medical delivery. His cargo is a liver desperately needed to save a young girl, and he reportedly has just three hours to transport the organ from Brisbane to the Gold Coast while enemies wait around every corner.

Owen Wilson plays Ben, a seemingly ordinary man who becomes an accidental hostage turned unlikely ally in the pursuit. The pair must outrun the cartel and deliver the organ before time runs out.

For fans who enjoy action-heavy team-ups, our recent coverage of the Expendables franchise returning to development covers similar buddy-action territory.

Director and Cast

Runner is directed by Scott Waugh, who previously helmed Expend4bles. The screenplay comes from Miles Hubley and Tommy White. The supporting cast includes Rodrigo Santoro, Leila George, Kate Box, Peta Sergeant, Geraldine Hakewill, Cecilia Toussaint, and Scarlett Crabtree.

In a statement, Waugh reportedly praised Angel Studios as the perfect home for the film, calling it the kind of theatrical release audiences have been waiting for.

Tone: Action With Comedy

Alongside the intense chase sequences, the trailer reportedly blends relentless action with bursts of dark comedy, driven largely by the dynamic between the two leads. Release Date

Runner opens in US theaters on Friday, September 11, 2026, with a runtime of roughly 1 hour and 37 minutes and a PG-13 rating for strong violence, bloody images, and some language. It arrives in the same busy autumn theatrical window as several other genre releases, including our earlier piece on Resident Evil’s UK cinema release announcement.
