Robert Pattinson Transforms Into Chris Hansen in A24’s Primetime Trailer
A24 recently dropped the first teaser for Primetime, a drama-thriller based on the origins of To Catch a Predator. Now, Robert Pattinson is going viral for it — and honestly, fair.
Primetime is directed by Lance Oppenheim from a script by Ajon Singh. The cast includes Merritt Wever, Skyler Gisondo, and Phoebe Bridgers. Pattinson is also a producer on the project.
The official logline reads: “In 2006, To Catch a Predator host Chris Hansen sets out to make television history.” The show, for anyone who missed their early 2000s internet rabbit holes, was a Dateline NBC hidden-camera operation that confronted men attempting to meet minors for sex — the kind of program that would almost certainly never be greenlit by a major network today.

In the 63-second clip, Pattinson eerily mimics Hansen’s voice — to the point that it’s easy to forget you’re watching a movie trailer until his face appears 38 seconds in. The trailer has already racked up 13.1 million views on Discussing Film’s X post alone, with comments full of praise for Pattinson’s vocal transformation.
Primetime hits theaters on September 11, though some industry insiders are hearing October/November for the UK release. A BBFC rating has not yet been confirmed. According to Deadline, the project was first reported in development back in October 2024 — at the time under a vaguer logline about “a journalist who changes television forever.” Understatement of the decade, really.
Pattinson is also set to appear in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey later this year, and is slated to begin shooting The Batman: Part Two shortly after. Meanwhile, A24 continues its apparent mission to make every film of 2026 interesting — their Texas Chainsaw Massacre reimagining is also in the works.
We’ll keep you posted on updates about Primetime as the project develops.
