New look at ‘TED LASSO’ Season 4

Apple TV confirms Ted Lasso season 4 premiere date and shares new cast photos

Apple TV will bring Ted Lasso back for a fourth season on Wednesday, August 5, the streamer confirmed this week, releasing new first-look photos of Jason Sudeikis and the returning cast.

TL;DR

  • Ted Lasso season 4 premieres Wednesday, August 5, with new episodes weekly through October 7.
  • Apple TV shared first-look photos showing Sudeikis, Hannah Waddingham and Brett Goldstein back in Richmond colours.
  • Ted now coaches a second division women’s football team, a shift from the men’s side he led in earlier seasons.
  • Seven new cast members join the show, including British actors Faye Marsay and Rex Hayes.

Apple confirms the return date

Apple TV Press confirmed that season four will make its global debut on Wednesday, August 5, with one episode at launch. New instalments will follow every Wednesday through October 7. The announcement arrived with a teaser trailer and a set of first-look images showing Sudeikis back in character.

BriefLedger first covered the season’s initial teaser back in May, when Apple TV revealed only a premiere window without a specific date.

A new team, a new challenge

Season four finds Ted coaching a second division women’s football team rather than the men’s side he managed in earlier seasons. Sudeikis, who also serves as an executive producer, said the team will “leap before they look” this season, according to a statement carried by Collider.

That plot sits alongside Apple TV’s wider slate this year, which also includes Silo‘s third season.

Who’s back and who’s new

Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, Brett Goldstein, Brendan Hunt and Jeremy Swift all return for season four, according to Apple TV’s announcement. New cast members include Tanya Reynolds, Jude Mack, Faye Marsay, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey, Abbie Hern and Grant Feely.

Several of the new additions, including Marsay and Hayes, are British actors, continuing the show’s long-running mix of American and UK talent both on screen and behind the camera.

UK viewers and pricing

UK viewers can watch the new season through Apple’s UK subscription page for £9.99 a month, or £89 on an annual plan. Apple TV releases new episodes worldwide on the same day, so the UK premiere lands alongside the US and every other territory on August 5. The first three seasons remain available to stream now.

Why this premiere matters

Season three ended in 2023 with Ted stepping down as AFC Richmond’s manager to return to Kansas, leaving Roy Kent in charge of the men’s team and Rebecca Welton preparing to launch a women’s side. That ending set up the exact job Ted takes on in season four.

The premiere also shares its August 5 slot with FX’s The Shards, giving streaming audiences a crowded Wednesday of new television, according to MacRumors.
