A deal struck behind closed doors

According to Page Six, the former couple entered into an informal temporary settlement on a Monday, with the Collin County judge overseeing the case signing it into effect two days later — just 24 hours before they were due to face each other in court.

Raymond Rafool, family law attorney for Ramos, confirmed the agreement in a statement to Page Six, expressing his client’s satisfaction that the pair had been able to resolve things outside the courtroom.

“Sarah Jane is very happy that she and Dak are able to make decisions for the parties’ girls and their family on their own.”

Rafool added that Ramos firmly believes working together as parents is essential and will have long-term benefits for the girls. Prescott’s legal team also issued a statement to Page Six expressing similar sentiments.

According to TMZ Sports, sources close to both parties say talks had remained peaceful and productive throughout, with both sides describing themselves as “pretty happy” with how events had unfolded since the split.

What caused the split — cheating allegations and burner accounts

The breakdown of Prescott and Ramos’ relationship became public in early March 2026. Guests for their 250-person Italian ceremony received an email — obtained by TMZ — informing them the wedding had been cancelled, signed by both Prescott and Ramos.

Initial reports pointed to a prenuptial disagreement, but a Page Six investigation told a different story. According to a source familiar with the situation, Ramos believed Prescott had a history of communicating with other women throughout their relationship — but stayed, hoping he would change for the sake of their family.

The final confrontation reportedly took place during their joint bachelor and bachelorette party in the Bahamas. According to Page Six, after their friends departed, Ramos discovered that Prescott had allegedly been using anonymous social media profiles to send inappropriate messages to multiple women and former partners.

Prescott has not publicly addressed the infidelity claims. A representative for Ramos told People magazine at the time of the split that it was “a mutual decision,” with no major argument or “blow up” in the lead-up — a characterisation that appeared to soften the narrative, even as the burner account allegations circulated.

Two daughters at the centre

Prescott and Ramos began dating in autumn 2023. He proposed in October 2024 on a golf course, and the couple went on to have two daughters: two-year-old Margaret Jane, known as MJ, and 11-month-old Aurora Dakota.

In an earlier filing to the Collin County court, obtained by TMZ, Prescott formally requested that he and Ramos be appointed “joint managing conservators” of their daughters — language indicating neither parent would hold sole authority over major decisions for the children.

Under the terms referenced in reporting by Sports Illustrated, neither parent would be permitted to remove the girls from Texas without the written consent of the other.

Those close to Ramos told TMZ that Prescott is considered a good father, and there have been no disputes over parenting time with either daughter.

Where things stand for Prescott and the Cowboys

The custody saga has played out during a turbulent NFL offseason for Dallas. The Cowboys missed the playoffs for a second consecutive season in 2025, with their defence ranking among the worst in the league following the trade of linebacker Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers.

Prescott put up strong personal numbers last season — reportedly throwing for 4,552 yards with 30 touchdowns and 10 interceptions — but team success has eluded him. Dallas enters 2026 with new defensive personnel and draft capital, hoping the changes on both the field and the coaching staff will pay off.
