AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY

Marvel debuts new Avengers: Doomsday concept art at Shanghai Expo

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige unveiled fresh concept art for Avengers: Doomsday at Shanghai’s BilibiliWorld Expo on 11 July 2026, showing Robert Downey Jr.‘s Doctor Doom towering over returning Avengers and X-Men ahead of the film’s December release.

TL;DR

  • Feige revealed new Doomsday key art at BilibiliWorld in Shanghai on 11 July, led by Downey’s Doctor Doom.
  • Returning X-Men members Cyclops, Beast, and Magneto appear alongside the Fantastic Four and the New Avengers.
  • Feige confirmed a new X-Men film will follow Avengers: Secret Wars, and teased a bigger role for Florence Pugh‘s Yelena Belova.
  • Avengers: Doomsday opens in UK and US cinemas on Friday, 18 December 2026.

New artwork puts Doctor Doom front and centre

Two pieces of official art went up at the BilibiliWorld booth, according to Cosmic Book News. The main mural has Doom’s mask looming over the full roster, with James Marsden’s Cyclops planted at the centre in his blue X-Men kit and Mjolnir left lying at the bottom of the frame.

The second piece, exclusive to the Shanghai event, was a hand-drawn ink-brush scroll rendered in a traditional Chinese style with calligraphy and an artist’s seal.

Per SlashFilm, the wider illustration also folds in the New Avengers, the Fantastic Four, Sam Wilson’s Captain America and Falcon, Shang-Chi, and returning X-Men faces including Nightcrawler, Beast, and Mystique, with Tom Hiddleston’s Loki tucked into the centre of the frame. The New Avengers has already been covered on Screen & Story’s sister desk, which broke down the CinemaCon teaser reveal back in April.

Feige teases the X-Men and a bigger Yelena role

Feige used the Shanghai stop to confirm that Jake Schreier’s X-Men film will land after Avengers: Secret Wars, folding Fox’s mutants formally into the MCU timeline. He also flagged a larger part for Pugh’s Yelena Belova, hinting she could resurface sooner in Spider-Man: Brand New Day — a project Screen & Story’s poster breakdown covered in May.

Downey on trading the suit for the villain

Feige also recounted how Downey reacted when offered the role of Victor von Doom, quoting the actor’s own words, according to Cosmic Book News: “I played the best hero… I can play the best villain.”

A pre-recorded video message from Downey, Chris Evans, and Chris Hemsworth also played for the Shanghai crowd — the trio’s first joint appearance since Avengers: Endgame in 2019, reported MovieWeb. Evans kept his line simple: “Doomsday is coming.”
