AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER Season 2 premieres June 25, only on Netflix

Netflix Drops First Season 2 Image from Avatar: The Last Airbender

Netflix used its Upfronts 2026 presentation to remind everyone that the Gaang is coming back and dropped a new first-look image to make sure we don’t forget.

Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 2 hits Netflix on June 25th, and the fresh photo shows Gordon Cormier (Aang), Kiawentiio (Katara), Ian Ousley (Sokka), and Elizabeth Yu (Azula), a combination that should tell you everything you need to know about where this season is headed.

Avatar: The Last Airbender

After a bittersweet victory saving the Northern Water Tribe from the invading Fire Nation, Aang, Katara, and Sokka regroup and set off on a mission to convince the elusive Earth King to aid in their battle against fearsome Fire Lord Ozai (Daniel Dae Kim). Their journey to Ba Sing Se is treacherous — but also fruitful.

So, the big news fans have been waiting for: Season 2 introduces one of the most beloved characters in the series, the blind Earthbender Toph Beifong, played by Miyako. The show is also a full season shorter this time around — Season 2 consists of seven episodes, one fewer than the first season’s eight-episode run, though reports indicate the overall runtime will actually be longer than Season 1’s 430 minutes.

Seasons 2 and 3 were made back-to-back, with Season 2 finishing production in May 2025 and the final season beginning production shortly after. UK fans won’t be waiting any longer than anyone else — Season 2 lands on Netflix globally on 25 June, included with standard Netflix subscriptions starting at £4.99 per month.

Season 1 earned a 62% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes — not exactly a roaring endorsement — but audiences clearly didn’t care. Executive producer Christine Boylan says stepping up the production played a major role in helping the series mature from Season 1 to Season 2, and if the scale of those Ba Sing Se sets is anything to go by, she’s not wrong.

According to Bleeding Cool, Season 3 is already in production. Alas, that one’s a while off yet.

We’ll keep you posted on updates about Avatar: The Last Airbender as the project develops.
