First Full Look at Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom Arrives via UK Sock Calendar
So, the full costume reveal fans have been begging for didn’t come from a trailer. It came from a box of socks.
UK retailer Menkind has listed the Marvel Avengers Doomsday 12 Days Socks Advent Calendar for pre-order at £30 ($39.70), and the box art gives the clearest head-to-toe look yet at Robert Downey Jr.‘s Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday. The design shows a dark green hooded cloak over silver plates with medieval-style etchings, chainmail sleeves, and sturdy greaves. Doom stands front and center, arms crossed, towering over the rest of the roster in the background artwork.
Doom Over Everyone
According to Cosmic Book News, the calendar’s box positions Downey’s villain above the Avengers, the X-Men, and the Fantastic Four, with ghosted figures of Thor, Beast, Cyclops, Mister Fantastic, and a shadowy hooded Hulk lurking in the green background behind him. The calendar itself is a fairly modest 15cm x 30cm x 5cm, and each of the 12 days unwraps a new pair of character-themed socks. Not exactly what you’d expect the first proper Doom reveal to ride in on, but here we are.
This is the same design that showed up on Disney’s Merchandise Expo banner in China and again during the studio’s CinemaCon footage debut, so it’s not a leak so much as Marvel finally letting the merchandising machine catch up to what CinemaCon audiences already saw. Downey’s Doom has been notably absent from all four official teasers so far, despite headlining basically every piece of promotional art since his 2024 Comic-Con casting surprise.
Alas, fans still don’t have a trailer to watch at home. MovieWeb reports that Marvel is likely saving that for San Diego Comic-Con’s Hall H on July 25, which would let it run ahead of Spider-Man: Brand New Day screenings six days later, the last MCU release before Doomsday itself.
Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters December 18, 2026, with Avengers: Secret Wars following in December 2027. The sock calendar, for what it’s worth, ships to UK customers September 9.
