Who are the new additions?

Hill joins as Clemmy Keeler, the fierce patriarch of the Keeler family who rivals the Peaky Blinders’ ambitions to rebuild Birmingham.

The Northern Irish actor is best known for playing Lord Varys across all eight seasons of HBO’s Game of Thrones. His casting is among the more prominent additions to the new era of the franchise.

Daniel Monks, who starred opposite Sarah Snook in Peacock hit All Her Fault, will play Detective Inspector Bell. Cal O’Driscoll from Video Nasty joins as Clemmy’s son, Aidan Keeler.

Lucie Shorthouse from We Are Lady Parts joins the Peaky Blinders gang as Kezia Lee. The remaining new additions include Samuel Bottomley (California Schemin’), Arturo Muselli (Gomorrah), and Eugene Collins (The Bay).

Familiar faces returning

Ned Dennehy and Packy Lee will reprise their roles as Charlie Strong and Johnny Dogs respectively from the series and The Immortal Man movie.

Their return ties the new show directly to what came before it, bridging the earlier seasons and the 2026 film.

The newly announced cast join Jessica Brown Findlay, Lashana Lynch, and Lucy Karczewski, who were all previously announced, though details of their roles will be shared at a later date.

What is the sequel about?

In this new era of Peaky Blinders, set a decade after World War Two, the race to rebuild Birmingham becomes a brutal contest of mythical dimensions. Duke (Jamie Bell) and Charles Shelby (Charlie Heaton) find themselves in a city of unprecedented opportunity and jeopardy.

At the blood-soaked heart of the city are Duke Shelby’s Peaky Blinders: Eliot (Samuel Bottomley), Angelo (Arturo Muselli), Frank (Eugene Collins), and Kezia Lee (Lucie Shorthouse), with Ned Dennehy and Packy Lee both reprising their roles as Charlie Strong and Johnny Dogs.

Creator Steven Knight said at the time of the earlier casting announcement: “I am thrilled that we are announcing a new era of Peaky Blinders, moving the story to post-war Birmingham in the early ’50s. There are more exciting cast announcements to come, and Peaky is on the road again.”

UK streaming and production details

Two new series of Peaky Blinders are currently in the works, each six episodes, which will drop on BBC and its streamer iPlayer in the UK and on Netflix in the rest of the world. No UK premiere date has been confirmed as of publication.

The sequel is currently filming in Birmingham and will air on the BBC and iPlayer in the UK, while Netflix will handle international streaming.

Production is supported by the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA). Peaky Blinders is the first commission following a new BBC partnership agreement with the WMCA and Create Central to expand BBC and partner production investment in the West Midlands.

Behind the camera

Mike Barker (The Testaments) and Anna Zackrisson (Detective Hole) will direct, with Tim Whitby (This Town) producing.

Banijay labels Kudos and Garrison Drama are producing. Steven Knight is the creator and writer of Peaky Blinders.
