Spider-Man: Brand New Day drops official poster and teases record-breaking practical stunts
Marvel and Sony have released the official poster for Spider-Man: Brand New Day alongside a behind-the-scenes featurette, revealing that Tom Holland‘s fourth solo outing as Peter Parker has set a franchise record for in-camera stunt work — with Glasgow streets doubling for New York City.
TL;DR
- Marvel dropped the official poster and a practical production featurette for Spider-Man: Brand New Day on 14 May 2026.
- Tom Holland says the film shot “the most stunts in-camera” of any Spider-Man movie, including a major street sequence filmed in Glasgow.
- The film opens in UK cinemas on 31 July 2026, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton.
- The cast includes Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Sadie Sink, Jon Bernthal as Punisher, and Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk.
What the new poster shows
The official poster carries the tagline “The world has forgotten Peter Parker, but he hasn’t forgotten them,” showing Peter in his Spider-Man suit layered beneath street clothes — a nod to classic comic-book imagery and his struggle to maintain a dual identity.
The theatrical teaser poster that preceded it featured a close-up of Holland’s Spider-Man mask, with Zendaya’s MJ reflected in the glossy lens of his eye — making it an unusually intimate MCU promotional image.
The official poster was revealed following the teaser posters that first appeared at CinemaCon 2026, where it spotlighted Peter Parker as the web-slinging hero.
The stunt record and Glasgow filming
Director Destin Daniel Cretton opted for more practical stunt work on Brand New Day than any prior entry in the franchise. Holland has confirmed the production shot more stunts on the day, in-camera, than in any of his previous Spider-Man films.
The opening action sequence has been singled out as a major highlight, with practical car explosions filmed on real streets alongside real crowd reactions — fans assembled in large numbers to watch the filming unfold.
Holland described it as “some of the best action we’ve had in any of these movies,” adding that the production “shot the most stunts in-camera” while making the film’s opening sequence.
Much of the street footage was shot in Glasgow, Scotland, which stood in for New York City. A major sequence involving a tank drew large crowds of fans and paparazzi, many of whom were impressed by Holland swinging through the air on wires in a manner that, by all accounts, made the character feel genuinely alive.
Story so far: Peter living alone after No Way Home
The context for Brand New Day traces back to a criticism levelled at No Way Home — that portions of the film looked visually unconvincing, partly because it was shot under COVID restrictions. Sony’s marketing has leaned into the practical production angle as a deliberate corrective.
Four years have passed since the events of No Way Home, and Peter Parker now lives entirely alone, having voluntarily erased himself from the lives and memories of those he loves. He is crime-fighting in a New York that no longer knows his name, focused entirely on protecting his city — while his superpowers undergo a surprising and potentially dangerous evolution.
Cast: familiar faces, new threats
Brand New Day is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and stars Holland, Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando, and Mark Ruffalo.
Zendaya and Batalon return as MJ and Ned despite both characters having had their memories wiped at the end of No Way Home. Sink joins in an as-yet-undisclosed role, with fan speculation pointing heavily toward Jean Grey.
Bernthal’s casting marks the Punisher’s first appearance in an MCU feature film. He previously portrayed Frank Castle across two seasons of Netflix’s The Punisher and revived the role in Daredevil: Born Again on Disney+.
Ruffalo’s Hulk serves as what appears to be a key scientific ally for Peter as his powers begin to mutate in unexpected directions.
UK release and where to see it
UK angle: Spider-Man: Brand New Day is the biggest British-talent superhero film of 2026. Holland — born in Kingston upon Thames, south-west London — received the BAFTA Rising Star Award in 2017 and became the youngest actor to play a title role in an MCU film. His seventh appearance as Spider-Man in a feature film arrives in UK cinemas on 31 July 2026.
ODEON is among the UK chains hosting the release, with the cinema billing it as “the big-screen rebirth of the MCU’s MVP.” Cineworld and Vue are also confirmed venues.
No streaming date has been announced. Given Sony’s recent release windows, a Disney+ arrival is expected approximately 45 days after theatrical release.
