MrBeast spent $7 million and hired 250 artists for Marvel-linked cartoon
Jimmy Donaldson, the YouTuber known as MrBeast, said this week he spent $7 million and hired 250 artists from 16 countries to rebuild his MrBeast Lab animated series, now streaming free on YouTube, after fans criticised its storytelling.
TL;DR
- MrBeast says season two of MrBeast Lab cost $7 million, with 250 artists drawing more than 140,000 frames by hand.
- Fred Tatasciore, the longtime voice of Marvel’s Hulk, and South Park and Bob’s Burgers writers joined the project.
- The episodes run about 100 minutes and are free to watch on YouTube.
What MrBeast said about the $7 million budget
Donaldson revealed the figures in a behind-the-scenes video, according to Dexerto. HypeFresh reported the video went live on October 30.
The artists produced more than 140,000 hand-drawn frames. Donaldson first tried animating the project himself, Dexerto reported, before deciding he needed a far larger team.

The headcount is not entirely consistent. In a post on X, MrBeast said he “hired over 100 amazing artists” for the show, while the video figure was 250.

Who is behind MrBeast Lab season two
Fred Tatasciore, the voice actor who played the Hulk across Marvel projects for 15 years, features in the series. Donaldson said Tatasciore cried while recording his lines.
Dexerto also reported that talent linked to Star Wars and anime joined the cast but did not name them. Streamers Sketch and Valkyrae appear in episode one.
The writers’ room includes Jameel Saleem, a writer whose credits include South Park and Bob’s Burgers, according to HypeFresh. Saleem said the team’s rule from day one was to put characters first, Dexerto reported.
SuperHeroHype named Ben Bjelajac and Michael Cruz as showrunners.
Why MrBeast rebuilt the animated series
The 2025 launch drew criticism over its story, characters and lack of emotional depth, according to Dexerto. SuperHeroHype reported that some critics also felt it prioritised selling toys over storytelling.
The new season leaves the laboratory setting behind. Dexerto said it adds deserts, cities, shopping malls and car chases, and Donaldson likened episode three to a Mad Max film.
Donaldson also pushed back on the idea that the show is only for children. He said: “They have NO idea what’s about to hit them.”
He added that viewers had compared the animation favourably with Invincible in comments on a teaser.
How to watch MrBeast Lab in the UK
The series is streaming free on YouTube, so UK viewers pay £0 and need no subscription. According to SuperHeroHype, the current batch has eight episodes and about 100 minutes of footage.
None of the reports reviewed mention a separate UK release schedule.
