Bill Nighy Joins the Growing Cast of John Wick Spinoff Caine
Donnie Yen is both starring in and directing Caine, the John Wick: Chapter 4 spinoff currently shooting in Budapest. Now, Bill Nighy has joined the cast in an undisclosed role!
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Nighy is the latest addition to a call sheet that already includes Mason Thames (The Black Phone), Dacre Montgomery (Stranger Things), and Rina Sawayama, who is reprising her role as Akira from Chapter 4.
The script comes from Mattson Tomlin and Michael McGrale. Tomlin also has The Batman Part II on his slate. The story picks up after the events of Chapter 4, with Caine freed from his obligations to the High Table — and almost immediately dragged back in.

Nighy is no stranger to franchise work. He played Davy Jones across two Pirates of the Caribbean films, Viktor in three Underworld instalments, and earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor for Living. Slotting him into the John Wick universe feels like exactly the kind of casting that makes sense on paper and somehow even more on screen.
Principal photography began in Budapest on 25 April 2026, with filming set to continue in Hong Kong in late June — meaning UK fans curious about the Caine production timeline should expect a theatrical release no earlier than late 2027 at the soonest. No UK release date or certification has been confirmed yet.
