Marvel is Bringing Avengers: Endgame Back — With New Footage
Joe Russo has confirmed that the upcoming theatrical re-release of Avengers: Endgame won’t just be a victory lap. It’ll actually matter.
Speaking at the Sands Film Festival in St Andrews, Scotland, Russo told a packed crowd that the re-release will include new footage set directly within the Doomsday narrative. “It’s critically important to re-release the movie, and, in fact, we’ll be re-releasing the film with footage that is set in the Doomsday story that we have added to Avengers: Endgame,” Russo said via Zoom link after being held up stateside following CinemaCon. His words, per Deadline.

Avengers: Endgame
During the Walt Disney Studios presentation at CinemaCon, Joe Russo and Anthony Russo confirmed the September 25 re-release will include brand-new footage from the already three-hour-long film. So yes, they’re adding more. To the three-hour movie.
Russo called it “an opportunity to create a bridge from Endgame to Doomsday in a very unique way.” He also described it as a “critical companion story” — which is a polite way of saying you might actually need to see this one before December.
Both Endgame and Doomsday, hitting theaters December 18, will be presented in “Infinity Vision,” a new certification for premium large-format theaters touted as delivering “the biggest, brightest and most immersive cinematic experiences” for moviegoers. Disney’s answer to IMAX, essentially.
Alas, the specifics of what the new footage actually contains are still under wraps. It’s unclear whether it’s intended to set up Doomsday directly or is leftover from the original cutting room floor. Given Russo’s comments, though, it sounds like the former.
Avengers: Endgame returns to theaters on September 25, 2026. Avengers: Doomsday follows on December 18. We’ll keep you posted on updates about Avengers: Endgame as the project develops.
