Production moves from Thailand to the UK
Season one of Alien: Earth was largely shot in Bangkok, Thailand. Season two has relocated entirely to Pinewood Studios, the historic Buckinghamshire facility where the original Alien, Aliens, Alien 3 and Prometheus were all filmed, according to Bloody Disgusting, which cited a Deadline report on the casting.
FX marked the start of shooting with a behind-the-scenes look at the production, according to Bleeding Cool.
New faces join Wendy’s world
Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones), previously confirmed for a major role, is now joined by Tracey Ullman, Sam Spruell and Jerome Flynn. No character details have been released for any of the four so far, according to Bloody Disgusting’s report on the casting additions.
They join returning series leads Sydney Chandler, who plays the hybrid Wendy, and Timothy Olyphant.
Season one ended on a cliffhanger, with Yutani’s group arriving at Neverland Island as Wendy declared “now, we rule,” a moment that set up the wider stakes for season two, according to AceShowbiz.
The UK angle
Pinewood’s role is more than logistical. The Buckinghamshire studio is where the original 1979 Alien was shot, and its return to the franchise for season two carries genuine weight for UK crews and fans alike, according to Film Stories. Pinewood is also home to the James Bond franchise and multiple Marvel productions, making it one of the busiest studio lots in England.
What Hawley has said about season two
Noah Hawley has described season two as a bigger show with wider world-building, expanding the story beyond the confines of the island seen in season one, according to Bleeding Cool. Hawley has also said he is interested in exploring the corporate politics of Weyland-Yutani and the other rival corporations that shape the show’s future Earth.
Fans hoping for a look at House of the Dragon’s own UK production run will find a similar pattern this summer, with several major genre productions now based out of British studios.
Status and release window
No official premiere date has been set for Alien: Earth season two. Season one debuted on FX in August 2025, and industry estimates point toward a 2027 release, though that has not been confirmed by FX or Disney.
